Rwanda
Rwanda produces a small fraction of the world’s coffee, but what it lacks in volume it makes up for in extraordinary coffees with unique attributes. Rwandan coffee is creamy-bodied, with sweet citrus acidity reminiscent of Kenyan coffee.
The best varieties of Rwandan coffee offer caramel and floral notes, with unique layers of complexity. After the tragedy of genocide in 1994, Rwanda’s coffee farmers are committed to working together and enhancing their livelihoods by forming coffee co-operatives that grow exceptional coffees.
These cooperatives have led to enhanced traceability throughout the supply chain, and they have helped place Rwanda on the map as a specialty coffee origin.
